Life is Rough

So this is what Hannah looked like on Tuesday afternoon when she woke up from her nap. She was extremely grumpy. I set her on the floor of the kitchen to play while I washed dishes and she would have none of it. She just crawled over to me, pulled up on the back of my legs and cried, "ma ma ma ma" until I picked her up. I thought it was kind of funny. I'm sure the grandmothers will probably scold me for posting such a sad picture.

Summer Fun

July has been a busy month for us and full of milestones for Hannah. At the end of June she figured our crawling (see video in previous post) and the world has opened up to her. She crawls fast now and will follow me all over the house. She loves to pull herself up on the coffee table and bang on it with her hands or a toy. Her other favorite in the house is the screen doors in the kitchen and the front door. Today she saw the neighbor boys playing outside and got all excited and noisy until Daddy took her out to say hi. It's amazing how much she has learned in the past few weeks. Not that long ago I was amazed to find her standing in her crib and now it's a regular occurrence.
So besides Hannah's new skills, here's what we've been up to:
A trip to Cayucos for the 4th of July with Chris' family. Hannah was fascinated by the fireworks.
A trip to San Juan Capistrano for a worship conference Chris attended. Hannah and I got to tag along and visit a petting zoo, our friends the Turners and some of my family that she had not met yet.
Uncle David stopped by for an evening in Ventura, much too short of a visit.
Hannah and Mommy took a swim class together, a highlight for Hannah. She LOVES the water.

Below in the slideshow are pictures from this months activities.

Dedicated to the Lord

On June 29 we dedicated Hannah at church. What that means is we as parents are declaring before God and the congregation that we intend to raise her in the nurture and admonition of Jesus Christ. As described by our pastor, "It is a sober dedication of the parents to the ways of the Lord in raising their child. It is an act that initiates a life-long relationship governed by scripture."
As you can see in the photo, Hannah was intrigued by Pastor Lance's chin.

"Then they brought the little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, 'Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.' And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them."
